6. Nhận diện 7 bẫy đề thi kinh điển trong Single Passage
⚠️ Bẫy 1: Bẫy từ khóa trùng lặp nguyên bản (The Same-Word Trap)
Phương án sai bê y hệt một từ vựng xuất hiện trong văn bản, nhưng gắn vào chủ ngữ khác hoặc đổi nghĩa của câu. Người đọc lướt thấy từ quen thuộc lập tức chọn phải mà không nhận ra mệnh đề đã bị bóp méo.

Một đoạn đơn đi kèm 2 câu hỏi nên hoàn thành trong 1.5 – 2 phút; đoạn đi kèm 3 câu hỏi nên làm trong 2.5 – 3 phút; và đoạn đi kèm 4 câu hỏi nên làm tối đa 3.5 – 4 phút. Giữ nhịp độ này sẽ giúp bạn hoàn thành 29 câu Single Passage trong khoảng 26 – 28 phút.
2. Có nên đọc hết bài đọc rồi mới đọc câu hỏi không?
Không. Thói quen đọc toàn bộ bài trước khiến bạn lãng phí thời gian vào những chi tiết đề thi không hề hỏi. Chiến lược tối ưu luôn là: liếc tiêu đề để nắm thể loại văn bản (3 giây) → đọc câu hỏi để lấy từ khóa định vị (10 giây) → quay lại quét văn bản để tìm bằng chứng (30-40 giây).
3. Xử lý câu hỏi dạng “NOT mentioned” như thế nào để không mất nhiều thời gian?
Với câu hỏi NOT, thông tin thường tập trung thành một danh sách gạch đầu dòng hoặc trong 1-2 câu chứa phép liệt kê. Thay vì tìm câu sai ngay, hãy quét bài để tìm 3 phương án ĐƯỢC NHẮC TỚI và gạch bỏ chúng. Phương án còn lại không được hỗ trợ bởi văn bản chính là đáp án bạn cần chọn.
4. Làm sao để phân biệt giữa suy luận hợp lý và suy đoán quá đà?
Suy luận hợp lý trong TOEIC là suy luận tối thiểu (minimum inference) dựa trực tiếp trên một sự kiện nêu trong bài. Nếu bạn phải bắc cầu qua 2-3 giả định không có trong văn bản (“nếu thế này thì ắt hẳn thế kia”), đó chắc chắn là bẫy suy đoán quá đà.
5. Nếu gặp từ mới không biết nghĩa trong đoạn văn thì phải làm sao?
Đừng hoang mang dừng lại tra từ. Hãy dựa vào tiền tố, hậu tố hoặc ngữ cảnh của câu để đoán sắc thái nghĩa (tích cực hay tiêu cực, danh từ chỉ vật hay người). Thông thường, câu hỏi chỉ kiểm tra ý nghĩa cốt lõi của hành động chứ không bắt buộc bạn phải hiểu từng thuật ngữ hiếm gặp.
